Bluejay Baseball Team Drops Pair to NCC

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst College baseball to slipped to 4-16 in CCIW play following a pair of loss to North Central College. The Bluejays dropped game one 14-3 and fell 6-2 in the night cap. Elmhurst fell to 11-27 overall while North Central moved to 14-21 overall and 7-13 in league play.

NORTH CENTRAL 14, ELMHURST 3 - North Central scored six runs in the third and added five more in the fourth en route to a 14-3 win. The game was started on Saturday, May 3, but halted in the bottom of third inning due to rain.

Elmhurst was outhit 18-5 in the loss.

Michael Kerr (Glenview/Glenbrook South) finished 2-for-3 with three runs driven in to lead the Bluejays. He smacked a two-run homer in the seventh inning.

Andrew Auriemme (Addison/Addison Trail) took the loss from the mound for the Bluejays. He allowed nine hits and seven earned runs in 2.1 innings of work.

NORTH CENTRAL 6, ELMHURST 2 - North Central broke open a 2-2 tie with a four run bottom of the sixth to score a 6-2 victory.

Elmhurst finished only 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position and left 10 runners on base.

Brett Lilley (Rochester Hills, Mich./H.S.) led the Bluejays' offense in the loss, finishing a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate. Dan Matkovic (Carol Stream/Glenbard North) collected a pair of hits in the loss.

Kyle Silbert (Wheaton/North) suffered the loss from the mound. Silbert allowed only four hits and two earned runs in 5.2 innings of work. He walked five while striking out three.

Elmhurst wraps up it's CCIW schedule and plays its final home game of the season on Monday, May 5, by hosting North Central at 7:00 p.m.
