Bluejay Baseball Team Drops Close Contest

Box Score

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - The Elmhurst College baseball team slipped to 11-25 overall following a 3-2 loss to Dominican University at Alexian Field.

Trailing 2-1 after seven innings, the Bluejays tied the game at two in the eighth inning when Jim Deschamps (Glenview/Glenbrook South) singled home Pat Meginniss, who led off the inning with a double.

The lead was short lived, however, as Dominican answered right back in the bottom of the eighth and plated the winning run on an Elmhurst error.

Tom Rhein (Worth/Brother Rice) and Dan Matkovic (Carol Stream/Glenbard North) each finished with two hits in the loss.  Rhein drove in the first Elmhurst run in the sixth.

Peter Childs (Lake Forest/H.S.) took the loss in relief. He allowed only one hit and one unearned run in two innings of work.

Elmhurst travels to North Central College on Saturday, May 3.
