Bluejay Baseball Team Drops Two at Millikin

DECATUR, Ill. - The Elmhurst College baseball team slipped to 4-11 in CCIW play after dropping both ends of a doubleheader to Millikin University. Elmhurst dropped game one 7-6 and fell in the night cap 6-1. The Bluejays fell to 9-19 overall while Millikin moved 13-13 overall (4-10 CCIW).
MILLIKIN 7, ELMHURST 6 - Millikin erased a 6-5 deficit with a run in the fifth and a run in the sixth to score a 7-6 victory.
Four of the Bluejays' six runs came via the long ball as Tom Rhein (Worth/Brother Rice) slugged a three-run homer in the third and Pat Meginniss (Elgin/H.S.) smashed a solo shot in the second.
Jim Deschamps (Glenview/Glenbrook South) drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, while Mike Goltz (Neenah, Wis./H.S.) added an RBI double.
Meginniss and Rhein each recorded two of the Bluejays' six hits.
Peter Childs (Lake Forest/H.S.) took the loss in relief. Childs allowed only one earned run and three hits in two innings of work.
MILLIKIN 6, ELMHURST 1 - Millikin's Joe Kentos held Elmhurst's bats in check, limiting the Bluejays to only six hits while pitching a complete game.
Elmhurst scored its only run in the second on a Millikin error. The Bluejays had base runners as Kentos allowed six walks, but Elmhurst stranded 10 runners on base.
Kyle Silbert (Wheaton/North) took the loss from the mound. He allowed seven hits and three runs (two earned) in 6.1 innings of work. He walked three while striking out five.
