DECATUR, Ill. - The Bluejay baseball team snapped a seven-game skid by pounding Millikin University 12-1. Elmhurst moved to 9-17 overall and 4-9 in the CCIW while Millikin slipped to 11-13 overall and 2-10 in league play.

A five-run fifth inning and a four-run seventh inning helped break open the game for the Bluejays.

Scott Perkinson (Elk Grove Village/Elk Grove), Tom Rhein (Worth/Brother Rice), Pat Meginniss (Elgin/H.S.) and Brett Lilley (Rochester Hills, Mich./H.S.) recorded two hits apiece to lead the Bluejays' hit parade. Rhein drove in a team-high three runs while Perkinson drove in a pair while also scoring twice. Meginniss homered in the Bluejays' four-run seventh inning while Jim Deschamps (Glenview/Glenbrook South) smashed a two-run blast to spark Elmhurst's five-run fifth inning.

Andrew Auriemme (Addison/Addison Trail) held Millikin to only one run on five hits while scoring the win from the mound. Auriemme did not allow an earned run and did not issue a walk. He also struck out three in the win.

The Bluejays continue their three-game series at Millikin with a doubleheader on Sunday, April 20.
