Bluejay Baseball Team Drops Pair to Carthage

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College baseball team slipped to 3-8 in the College Conference of Illinois Wisconsin after dropping a pair of games to Carthage College. Elmhurst slipped to 8-14 overall with the losses.

Carthage (21-0, 11-0 CCIW) scored a 10-4 win in game number one and took the night cap by a final of 4-0.

CARTHAGE 10, ELMHURST 4 - Carthage scored seven times in the first inning en route to a 10-4 win.

After falling behind Carthage, the Bluejays cut into the Red Men's lead by scoring four times in the bottom of the frame.

After banging out three hits in the first inning, Elmhurst was held hitless for the remainder of the game.

Scott Perkinson (Elk Grove Village/Elk Grove), Pat Meginniss (Eglin/H.S.) and Tyler Manske (Rockton/Hononegah) each recorded a hit for the Bluejays. Manske drove in a pair while Meginniss added an RBI.

CARTHAGE 4, ELMHURST 0 - Elmhurst was held to only three hits in the 4-0 loss to Carthage.

Carthage's Trace Ruffie limited Elmhurst to only three hits while pitching a complete game shutout.

Elmhurst's Andrew Auriemme (Addison/Addison Trail) pitched well, despite taking the loss. Auriemme scattered nine hits and three runs in seven innings of work. He struck out four while not issuing a walk.

Elmhurst wraps up the three-game series with the Red Men by playing at Carthage on Tuesday, April 15, at 3:00 p.m.
