Bluejay Baseball Team Falls to North Park

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst College baseball team slipped to 3-5 in CCIW play following a 10-9 extra inning loss at North Park University.
Elmhurst (8-11 overall) led 7-3 in the eighth inning, but North Park scored six times in the bottom of the inning to grab a two-run lead. RBI singles from Pat Meginniss (Elgin/H.S.) and Dan Matkovic (Carol Stream/Glenbard North) tied the game at 9-all in the ninth inning.
North Park scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th to earn the conference win.
Scott Perkinson (Elk Grove Village/Elk Grove) finished 3-for-5 with a two-run home run. He also scored pair of runs. Matkovic finished 3-for-5 while driving in two runs. Tyler Manske (Rockton/Hononegah) also finished with three hits in the loss. Meginniss and Nick Sharkey (Bolingbrook/H.S.) each finished with two hits apiece.
Andrew Auriemme (Addison/Addison Trail) made the start for the Bluejays and got a no-decision. He worked 7.2 innings and allowed 12 hits and seven runs (only three earned). Scott Jones (Island Lake/Wauconda) took the loss. He allowed two hits and one run in 1.1 innings of relief.
