Bluejay Baseball Team Falls to Illinois Wesleyan

Game Two Box Score

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Elmhurst College baseball team fell to Illinois Wesleyan University 6-2 to slip to 6-10 overall and 1-4 in the CCIW.

Although the game was originally scheduled to be played in Elmhurst, it was moved to Illinois Wesleyan due to poor field conditions.

Illinois Wesleyan (11-4, 5-0 CCIW) broke open a one-run game by scoring four times in the fifth inning. Elmhurst got a run back in the bottom of the ninth, but left a pair of runners on base to end the game.

Scott Perkinson (Elk Grove Village/Elk Grove), Brett Lilley (Rochester Hills, Mich./H.S.) and Pat Meginniss (Elgin/H.S.) recorded two hits apiece to pace the Bluejays' offense.  Jim Deschamps (Glenview/Glenbrook South) and Tom Rhein (Worth/Brother Rice) each drove in a run in the loss.

Mike Saylor (Cicero/Nazareth Academy) took the loss for Elmhurst. Saylor (0-1) allowed six runs and 10 hits in seven innings of work. He struck out 10 while not issuing a walk. Cyrus Rogers (Wheaton/Glenbard North) pitched two scoreless innings of relief, striking out four in the process.

Elmhurst hosts North Park University on Saturday, April 5.
