Baseball Team Drops Spring Trip Opener

CHANDLER, Ariz. - The Elmhurst College baseball team slipped to 1-4 on the season following a 16-5 loss to Western New England College at the Russmatt Tournament in Arizona.
Western New England jumped on the Bluejays for a pair of 7-run innings, leading to the 16-5 victory.
Scott Perkinson (Elk Grove/Elk Grove Village) led the Bluejay offense with a 3-for-4 day at the plate. Jim Deschamps (Glenview/Glenbrook South) finished 2-for-2 at the plate with a double. Nick Sharkey (Bolingbrook/H.S.) added a two-run double in the loss.
Matt Seroka (Chicago/Brother Rice) took the loss on the mound. Seroka worked three innings and was charge with five earned runs.
Elmhurst faces Knox College in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 22, in Scottsdale, Ariz.
