Bluejay Baseball Team Drops Pair to Gustavus Adolphus

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Elmhurst College baseball team dropped both ends of a season-opening doubleheader to Gustavus Adolphus University. The Bluejays dropped game one 11-4 and fell 4-1 in game two.
GUSTAVUS 11, ELMHURST 4 (Game One) - A seven-run third inning sparked Gustavus Adolphus to an 11-4 victory in the season opening contest for both teams.
Five hits, including a two-run homer by Pat Siering, and a pair of Elmhurst errors opened the flood gates in the third inning as Gustavus pushed home seven runs to take a commanding lead.
Brett Lilley (Rochester Hills, Mich./H.S.) and Pat Meginniss (Elgin/H.S.) each recorded a pair of hits and drove in two runs apiece to pace the Bluejays in the loss.
Steve Huisel (Gurnee/Warren) took the loss after allowing seven runs (only two earned) and six hits in 2.2 innings.
Gustavus was led by Shea Roehrkasse's 4-for-5 day at the plate. Robby Wiens added three hits in the win.
Dave Wold earned the win for Gustavus, allowing no runs and just four hits in three innings of work.
