Hofer Earns All-Region Honors

ELMHURST, Ill. - Elmhurst College baseball player Zach Hofer has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All Central Region second team.

Hofer, who was recently named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's Co-Player of the Year, was selected to the all-region second squad at third base.

Hofer, the Bluejays' primary third baseman, earned all-conference honors as an infielder. He finished the season with a team-leading .405 average. He also led the squad in on base-percentage (.448) while ranking second on the team in hits (45), home runs (five), RBI (41), total bases (70), and slugging percentage. Hofer also ranked third on the squad in doubles with eight.

Hofer turned in some of his best performances in CCIW contests. He won the CCIW batting title with a .431 average in league competition. He also ranked third in the league in slugging percentage (.692) and sixth in home runs with four.

Elmhurst finished the 2009 season with a 13-23 overall record and a 4-15 mark in conference play.
