Bluejay Backer Golf Outing Set For June 16

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst College Bluejay Backers will hold its 27th annual Bluejay Backer Golf Outing on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Bloomingdale Golf Club in Bloomingdale (located at 181 Glen Ellyn Road). For the fourth year in a row, the golf outing is sponsored by custompromos.com, an M&M Sports Company. M&M Sports is a family-owned promotional products company located in Addison.
The Bluejay Backers organization, now in its 30th year, serves to promote and increase interest in Bluejay intercollegiate athletics, to further enhance the reputation of the College and to raise funds for College athletic purposes. Elmhurst College currently has 18 NCAA athletic teams with approximately 425 student-athletes.
The 2009 golf outing registration fee of $175 covers 18 holes of golf with a cart, lunch on the course, beverages, hors d'oeuvres, and dinner. The day begins with registration and a silent auction at 10:00 a.m., with an 11:00 a.m. shotgun start to the golfing. The outing is a scramble format. Following golf, a reception and dinner will be served beginning at 5:00 p.m. Gifts, prizes, a raffle and the silent auction add to the fun each summer. The Bluejay Backers raised well over $150,000 last fiscal year (2007-2008) through a variety of fundraising activities. Since 1979, gifts totaling more than $1 million have been raised through the Bluejay Backers for the Elmhurst College athletic programs. Established in 1982, the golf outing has developed into the Bluejay Backers' biggest fundraising event each year.
