AURORA, Ill. - The Elmhurst College softball team closed out its 2008 season by dropping both ends of a doubleheader at Aurora University. The Bluejays dropped game one 12-0 and fell 7-3 in extra innings in the night cap.

Elmhurst wrapped up the 2008 season with a 12-25 overall record.

AURORA 12, ELMHURST 0 - Aurora scored a run in the first and jumped on the Bluejays for six runs in the second and four in the third en route to a 12-0 win in five innings.

Elmhurst was held to only two hits in the loss.

Becca Zumpf (Frankfort/Lincoln-Way East) and Jill Karsa (Downers Grove/Downers Grove North) each recorded a single in the loss.

Vanessa Kalal (Montgomery/Oswego) took the loss for the circle. Kalal surrendered 11 hits and 11 runs in 2.1 innings of work. She walked five and struck out one.

AURORA 7, ELMHURST 3 - Aurora's Dana Cebular smacked a walk-off grand slam in the eighth inning to give the Spartans a 7-3 victory.

Trailing 2-0 after five innings, Elmhurst took advantage of an Aurora error in the sixth to even the score on Rachel Hartmann's (Collinsville, Mo./H.S.) two run single.

Elmhurst grabbed the lead in the top of the eighth, but it did not last long. Aurora's Julie Bennes led off the bottom of the eighth with a solo home run to knot the score and set the stage for Cebular's grand slam.

Zumpf and Amanda Bowlin (Ballwin, Mo./Marquette) each recorded two hits in the Bluejays' loss.

Jaci Hall (Naperville/Waubonsie Valley) suffered the loss from the circle. She allowed 10 hits and six earned runs in 7.1 innings of work. She walked four and struck out two.
