Baseball Team Drops CCIW Openers to Ill. Wesleyan

The Elmhurst College baseball team dropped its CCIW opening games by falling in both ends of a doubleheader at Illinois Wesleyan University. Elmhurst (5-8 overall, 0-2 CCIW) dropped game one 14-1 and fell 5-0 in the night cap.
ILLINOIS WESLEYAN 14, ELMHURST 1 - Illinois Wesleyan outhit Elmhurst 14-6 en route to the 14-1 win. Leading 2-0, the Titans blew the game open in the 14th inning by scoring 10 runs on nine hits in the fourth inning.
Jim Deschamps (Glenview/Glenbrook South) led the Bluejay offense with a pair of hits.
Patrick Saylor (Cicero/Nazareth) took the loss from the mound for Elmhurst. Saylor allowed eight hits and 10 runs (eight earned). He walked two and struck out three in 3.1 innings of work.
ILLINOIS WESLEYAN 5, ELMHURST 0 - Illinois Wesleyan (8-4, 0-2 CCIW) held the Bluejays off the scoreboard while earning a 5-0 win.
Titans' starter Matt Aronson held the Bluejays to only three hits in eight innings of work. Aronson struck out nine while not issuing a walk.
Steve Huisel (Gurnee/Warren) made the start and took the loss for the Elmhurst. Huisel allowed 11 hits and five runs in seven innings. He walked two and struck out three.
Elmhurst will play host to Illinois Wesleyan on Sunday, March 30, at 1:00 p.m.
