Elmhurst's Brent Ruch Earns All-Region Honors

ELMHURST, Ill. - Elmhurst College men's basketball player Brent Ruch (Farmer City/Blue Ridge) has been named to D3hoops.com's All-Midwest Region first team. Ruch, a 6-9 junior, was selected as the first team center.

The all-region honor was the second straight for Ruch, who earned third-team all-region recognition during his sophomore year. Ruch was a D3hoops.com fourth team preseason All-American.

Ruch was a unanimous pick to the first-team all-conference squad for the second-straight season. A two-time CCIW Player of the Week this season, he ranked second on the team in scoring with an average of 16.5 points per game. He also led the team in rebounding (8.6 rebounds per game), assists (74), and field goal percentage (.618). His .618 field goal percentage broke the Elmhurst single-season record of .617 that Ruch established last season.

In CCIW contests, Ruch averaged 15.9 points and 8.4 rebounds. He ranked third in the league in rebounding and sixth in the conference in scoring. He also ranked second in the league in field goal percentage (.571) and free throw percentage (.886) while tying for second in the conference in steals (19). He finished fourth in the CCIW in assists (41).

In the Bluejays' final game of the season, Ruch became the 20th player in Elmhurst history to break the 1,000 career point mark. Ruch has 1,012 points after three seasons with the Bluejays. His 75 career blocks ranks second in school history while his 560 career rebounds ranks ninth in Elmhurst history.
