Elmhurst boasts four outstanding outdoor athletic facilities for fall and spring sports: Langhorst Field, Butterfield Park, Salt Creek Park, and The Lester Brune Tennis Courts.
Langhorst Field Langhorst Field, home to the football, soccer, and track and field programs, serves as the College's primary outdoor facility. Completely renovated in 2002, the field is surrounded by an all-weather, rubberized track. It's surfaced in AstroPlay, the latest generation of synthetic turf, and the safest and most durable surface available.
Additional recent improvements at Langhorst Field include a new scoreboard, a new decorative fence, an expanded locker room, and a Legacy Wall listing all of Elmhurst College's head football and soccer coaches.
Butterfield Park (385 E. Van Buren St. - Elmhurst) Elmhurst's baseball team plays and practices at Butterfield Park, a municipal park tucked in a residential area of Elmhurst close to campus. The baseball field at Butterfield has undergone substantial upgrades over the past few years, including a new warning track, a re-sodded infield, windscreens covering the surrounding fencing, expanded bleachers, a new scoreboard, and enlarged dugouts. The field now boasts a new press box as well.
Salt Creek Park (574 W. Second St. - Elmhurst) Completed in the spring of 2006, Salt Creek Park is the new home of the Elmhurst College softball team. The renovation of the park, a joint venture between Elmhurst College and the Elmhurst Park District, now has a fully enclosed, championship-caliber softball diamond. The park features an electronic scoreboard, fenced-in dugouts, an attached bullpen for pitchers, and a press box.
Lester Brune Tennis Courts The men's and women's tennis teams play at a brand-new facility on campus, the Lester Brune Tennis Courts, which were officially dedicated on September 27, 2003. The tennis complex features six courts complete with windscreens, landscaping, and a central viewing area to catch the action on all six courts. The courts are open to the public when not in use by the Elmhurst College tennis teams.
